14th International Meeting on Yeast Apoptosis and Aging

02 - 05 JUNE, 2020 | MOSCOW, RUSSIA

IMYA2020 cancellation

Dear members of IMYA community

It became clear now that IMYA 2020 can not be held in Moscow as scheduled in June 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic. Most of the governments enact significant travel restrictions inside and between the countries. Universities and schools are already closed in Moscow until further notice.

The place and the date of the next IMYA meeting are still unclear because of the uncertainty of further epidemic dynamics. We will keep you updated via the website, Facebook and Twitter accounts. We will post an update by September 2020.

Meanwhile, we have launched two special journal issues which were originally supposed to incorporate the review, hypothesis or research papers for the conference participants.

Frontiers in Cell and Development Biology:

https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/13332/yeast-differentiation-from-cell-to-cell-heterogeneity-to-replicative-aging-and-regulated-cell-death

and Biochemistry (Moscow):

https://www.springer.com/journal/10541

(accepting research and review articles, submission deadline July 05, please mention IMYA special issue in the Letter to Editor)

We hope that during the upcoming low-mobility period these journals could provide a communication route for the community.

Welcome to IMYA-2020

Dear colleagues, here in Moscow, we believe that the field of yeast apoptosis/PCD (Programmed Cell Death)  is still under-appreciated by people who work on cell death. We plan to focus the meeting on yeast stress response and replicative aging. The idea is to summarize the data on the experimental models in which the loss of function mutations enhance the resistance to stresses or aging. This is supposed to widen the list of potentially pro-PCD genes. In other words, rather than defining what PCD in yeast is, we come up with a set (database?) of the experimental models in which  functioning of a particular gene is harmful. As an option, we could invite someone from mammalian apoptosis field to discuss how such list relates to the apoptotic machinery in higher systems.
